Open Burning in Massachusetts is regulated by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and enforced by the local Fire Department. Open burning season runs from January15th – May 1st of each year. A valid permit obtained from the Harvard Fire Department is required. The Fire Chief reserves the right to deny open burning on any day due to weather or unfavorable environmental conditions.

For persons with limited computer access, permits can be purchased at the Police Station, Tuesday - Friday 9am-4:30pm and Saturday, 08am-Noon.
